Dick Cheney - Straight Man?

When future generations look back on our time, they will know that we met our moment with courage and with clear thinking. And they will know that America became a better nation -- stronger, more prosperous, and more secure -- under the leadership of our President, George W. Bush.

Dick Cheney, August 2006

Maybe the rich Arizona Republicans Cheney was talking to were busy eating their thousands a plate food. What other explanation for no record of sustained laughter at this line?

Proof Bush isn't Completely Stupid

And, you know, obviously I wish the violence would go down, but not as much as the Iraqi citizens would wish the violence would go down.

George Bush - in answer to press query, August 2006

A Few Bush Classics

Just a couple of good Bush quotes that I hadn't added before.

“I do want to give you some thoughts about what I’m thinking about.”

“They ought to learn to sing the national anthem in English.”

“When you turn on your TV screen and see innocent people die day in and day out, it affects the mentality of our country.”

“Nobody likes war. It creates a sense of—of uncertainty in the country.”

“There are limits to how much corn can be used for ethanol. After all, we got to eat some.”

And of course, a classic among the classics:

“Sometimes leaders show up who do a great disservice to the traditions and people of a country.”
